According to the 2016|2017 Cohasset Information Governance Benchmarking
Survey cultural and technical challenges are the biggest obstacles on the road
from Records and Information Management (RIM) to Information Governance (IG).
Most organizations have a Records and Information Management (RIM)
program (85%) and 73% agree that internal cross-functional collaboration on
Information Governance (IG) is a key information management driver. Close to
half (45%) of those surveyed report that IG strategy development is part of
their job role. However, only 25% say that they have a comprehensive strategy
to guide the evolution from RIM to IG and just 36% of respondents claim cross-collaborative IG functions.
